Are You a Prayer Warrior or a Beggar? (U Mwombaji au Ombaomba?)
1. Prayer is a dialogue with God, not a one-way conversation without a response from the other party (a monologue). God has said in His Word, Come, let us reason together (Isa 1:18) and let us argue the matter together (Isa 43:26).
2. Prayer is not complaining – Don’t pray for a need by comparing yourself to others. God destroyed His people in the wilderness when they complained (Jude 1:5).
3. God’s answers are YES, NO, or WAIT. – Sometimes His answers are different from your expectations. God knows what is best for you better than you know yourself.
4. Prayer does not change God, but you. – Don’t pray to change God. God does not change, but you do. James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
5. Your feelings do not make God act contrary to His Word – Do not rely on your feelings without the Word you stand for from the Holy Scriptures. Ezekiel 12:25 “For I am the Lord; I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall be performed; it shall not be deferred any more: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I speak the word, and perform it, saith the Lord GOD.”
U Mwombaji au Ombaomba?
1. Maombi ni kusemezana na Mungu (dialogue) – Sio kuongea upande mmoja tu bila mwitikio wa upande wa pili (monologue). Mungu amesema katika Neno lake, Njoni tusemezane (Isa 1:18) na tuhojiane (Isa 43:26).
2. Maombi sio kunung’unika – Usiombe hitaji kwa kujilinganisha na watu wengine. Mungu aliwaangamiza watu wake jangwani walipomnung’unikia (Yud 1:5).
3. Majibu ya Mungu ni ndiyo, hapana au subiri – Kuna wakati majibu yangu yanakuwa tofauti na matarajio yako. Mungu anajua kilicho chema kwa ajili yako kuliko unavyojua wewe mwenyewe.
4. Maombi hayambadilishi Mungu bali wewe – Usiombe kwa ajili ya kumbadilisha Mungu. Mungu habadiliki bali wewe ndiye unabadilika. Yakobo 1:17 “Kila kutoa kuliko kwema, na kila kitolewacho kilicho kamili, hutoka juu, hushuka kwa Baba wa mianga; kwake hakuna kubadilika, wala kivuli cha kugeuka-geuka.”
5. Hisia zako hazimfanyi Mungu atende kinyume na Neno Lake – Usitegemee hisia zako bila Neno unalolisimamia kutoka katika Maandiko Matakatifu. Ezekieli 12:25 “Maana mimi ni Bwana; mimi nitanena, na neno lile nitakalolinena litatimizwa; wala halitakawilishwa tena; maana katika siku zenu, Ewe nyumba iliyoasi, nitalinena neno hilo na kulitimiza, asema Bwana MUNGU.”
