The stronghold is coming down

Text: Joshua 6:1–16
Joshua 6:1 says: “Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel.”
The good news is that God never brings you to a Jericho without giving you a strategy for overcoming it.
The Bible says: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” — 2 Corinthians 10:4
1. IDENTIFY THE STRONGHOLD HINDERING YOUR DESTINY
“Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel.” — Joshua 6:1
Before Israel could conquer Jericho, they had to recognize that Jericho was standing in their way. You cannot confront what you refuse to identify.
What keeps repeating in your life that God never intended to be there?
2. RECEIVE A WORD OF REVELATION REGARDING YOUR VICTORY
“And the LORD said to Joshua, ‘See! I have given Jericho into your hand.’” — Joshua 6:2
Look at the timing of God's statement. The wall was still standing, but God said, “I have given Jericho into your hand.”
But Jesus says: “With God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26
God has not brought you this far to abandon you.
The wall may be standing, but your victory is already in God's plan.
3. RECEIVE GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE BATTLE
“You shall march around the city... This you shall do six days.” — Joshua 6:3 God did not only give Joshua a promise. He gave him a strategy.
Sometimes we want God to give us victory, but we don't want to follow His instructions.
Don't ask only: “Lord, remove this wall.” Ask: “Lord, what are You asking me to do?”
4. KNOW WHO IS FIGHTING WITH YOU
Joshua organized the priests, soldiers, and the people. They were not fighting as isolated individuals. There was unity.
Be careful who you allow into your spiritual battles.
Not everybody who is around you has the faith to walk with you through your Jericho.
Find people who will pray with you. Find people who will encourage you to keep going.
5. MAKE SURE GOD IS LEADING THE BATTLE
The ark of the covenant represented God's presence. Israel's victory was not dependent on military strength. Their confidence was in the presence of God.
Zechariah 4:6 says: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD.”
Stop trying to fight spiritual battles with human weapons.
Put God in front of your battle! When God leads, you can move forward with confidence.
6. AFTER PRAYER AND STRATEGY, TAKE ACTION
The Israelites did not merely discuss the walls. They marched!
Joshua gave the command, and the people moved.
Faith without action remains only an intention.
James 2:17 says: “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Somebody has been praying about something for too long but has not taken the step God has instructed him to take.
7. PRAISE GOD BEFORE YOU SEE THE WALL FALL
Joshua told the people: “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!” — Joshua 6:16
The walls had not yet fallen. But Joshua said: “The Lord has given you the city!”
This is the language of faith. You don't praise God only because you have received the answer.
You praise Him because you trust the One who promised the answer.
When you praise God in the middle of the battle, you are declaring:
“My situation is not my God. My circumstances are not my God. The Lord is my God, and He is able!”
Don't wait until the wall falls to shout. Shout while the wall is still standing!
8. DO NOT GIVE UP—THE PROCESS TAKES TIME
Israel marched around Jericho for six days. Nothing appeared to happen.
Then on the seventh day, they marched around it seven times.
Sometimes God is working while you see nothing happening.
Silence does not mean absence.
Don't stop because you haven't seen the wall fall yet.
Joshua 6:20 says: “So the people shouted... and the wall fell down flat.”
Your Jericho may look strong. But your God is stronger!
