YOUR JUSTICE IS COMING

YOUR JUSTICE IS COMING

(Don’t lose heart)

There are moments in life when you know you have been treated unfairly. “Do not lose heart—keep praying until your answer comes.”

Main Text: Luke 18:1–8

Sometimes the greatest battle is not the problem itself; it is the temptation to lose heart while waiting for God to intervene.

1. DO NOT TAKE A BREAK FROM PRAYER

“Men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” — Luke 18:1

Jesus connects prayer with perseverance. Prayer should not be something we do only when there is an emergency.

Your persistence in prayer is evidence that you still believe God can change your situation.

2. RECOGNIZE YOUR RIGHT

The widow knew exactly what she wanted: “Get justice for me from my adversary.” — Luke 18:3

She did not approach the judge without knowing what she needed.

3. BE PERSISTENT IN YOUR CRY

The widow kept returning. “She kept coming to him.” — Luke 18:3

Her strength was not her social position. Her strength was persistence.

Persistent prayer demonstrates that you refuse to abandon your confidence in Him.

Jesus concludes: “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him?” — Luke 18:7

4. DO NOT LET YOUR VULNERABILITY STOP YOU

The widow was vulnerable. She did not have the resources or influence that could easily force the judge to respond.

But she did not allow her weakness to silence her.

In fact, Scripture repeatedly shows God working through people who appeared weak and insignificant.

Yet God can use what looks weak to demonstrate His strength. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

Your vulnerability is not the end of your story.

5. BE DEEPLY BURDENED BY WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING TO GOD

Jesus said: “Who cry out day and night to Him.” — Luke 18:7

There is a difference between casually mentioning something in prayer and crying out to God from the depths of your heart.

Hannah prayed from the depths of her soul.

Blind Bartimaeus cried: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

6. LET FAITH GIVE POWER TO YOUR PRAYER

The final question Jesus asked is powerful: “Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” — Luke 18:8

Notice that Jesus does not merely talk about prayer. He talks about faith.

But biblical prayer is prayer accompanied by faith. “Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” — Mark 11:24

GOD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU

There is something important about the passage.

Jesus is not saying that God is like the unjust judge. He is making a contrast.

If an unjust judge eventually responds, how much more will a righteous and loving God respond to His children?
