FED WHILE OTHERS ARE STARVING
Let me give you some main points from the Scripture we have just read (1 Kings 17:2-16)
1. Receive God's Word for Your Present Season
Verse 2: "Then the word of the Lord came to him..."
Elijah did not act on assumptions or past experiences. He waited for God's instruction.
God speaks through His written Word (Logos) and through His timely direction (Rhema). While the written Word never changes, God also gives specific guidance for particular situations.
2. Discover Where God Has Appointed Your Provision
Verses 3,4: God instructed Elijah to go to the Brook Cherith. Brook is a stream of water (tributary)
His provision was attached to a specific place.
Many people pray for provision while refusing to move where God is leading them.
3. Obedience Unlocks Divine Provision
(1 Kings 17:5–6) 5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.
Elijah obeyed immediately.
Only after he obeyed did the ravens begin bringing food every morning and evening.
4. Recognize When One Season Has Ended
Verses 7-9: Eventually the brook dried up.
The dried brook was not evidence that God had abandoned Elijah.
5. Follow God's Guidance Even When It Defies Human Logic
(1 Kings 17:10–11) God sent Elijah to a widow.
God often hides great blessings in ordinary people and unlikely places.
6. Your Miracle May Be Hidden in What Seems Insufficient
(1 Kings 17:12) 12 So she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die."
God rarely asks us to begin with much.
He asks us to surrender what we already have.
7. Put God's Kingdom First
(1 Kings 17:13) Elijah instructed the widow:
"Make me a small loaf first."
It was about demonstrating that obedience to God comes before personal security.
When we honor God first, He honors His promises.
God blesses those who put Him first.
8. God Uses Unexpected People
(1 Kings 17:14–16)God sustained Elijah through a poor widow.
The widow lacked social influence, wealth, and status.
