YOUR GOOD DEEDS WILL SPEAK
(Your past does not disqualify you)
Text: Joshua 2:1–18
When the spies came to Jericho, Rahab protected them and helped them escape.
One act of faith and obedience can change the destiny of a family.
What are you doing today that heaven will remember tomorrow?
1. YOUR FAITH CAN CHANGE YOUR STORY
Rahab said: “I know that the Lord has given you this land.” — Joshua 2:9
Rahab was living among people who worshiped other gods, yet she recognized the sovereignty of the God of Israel.
Your past does not disqualify you from God's purpose.
The Bible says: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Don't allow your past to convince you that God cannot use you.
2. FAITH MUST BE DEMONSTRATED BY ACTION
Rahab did not merely say: “I believe in your God.”
She acted. She hid the spies and created a way for them to escape. Her faith became visible through her actions.
James 2:17: “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Rahab's faith became an action, and her action became part of her testimony.
3. WHAT YOU SOW INTO OTHERS CAN COME BACK TO YOU
Rahab protected the spies. She took a risk to help them.
Later, when judgment came upon Jericho, Rahab and her family were spared.
This illustrates the principle: “Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” — Galatians 6:7
Because one day, you may be living in the harvest of what you are sowing today.
4. DON'T SAVE YOURSELF AND FORGET YOUR FAMILY
Rahab did not ask only for herself. She said: “Now therefore, please swear to me by the Lord... that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have.” — Joshua 2:12–13
When Rahab discovered God's mercy, she wanted her family to experience it too.
Your blessing should not become the reason your family is forgotten.
Let your success become a blessing to others.
5. YOUR GOOD DEEDS CAN CREATE A LEGACY
Rahab's action affected more than herself. She helped preserve her family.
Her story became part of Israel's history.
God can take one transformed life and use it to influence generations.
Do good—not merely to be seen, but because God sees.
6. DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE MUCH TO DO GOOD
Rahab did not have great wealth. She did not have political power.
She used what she had. “What do you have in your hand right now?”
Your little can become significant in God's hands.
7. DON'T JUST ATTEND CHURCH—DEMONSTRATE THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER
Rahab's faith was demonstrated. Therefore, our Christianity should be visible in our lives.
Jesus said: “By their fruits you will know them.” — Matthew 7:20
“Is there evidence that Christ lives in you?” Church attendance is important, but it is not the final evidence of transformation.
Your life should testify about the God you worship.
8. SEEK EVIDENCE OF A TRANSFORMED LIFE
Rahab did not merely hear about the God of Israel. Her actions demonstrated that she had responded to what she believed.
Likewise, we should desire a Christianity that is experienced and demonstrated, not merely discussed.
Jesus promised: “These signs will follow those who believe...” — Mark 16:17
But remember: signs and spiritual gifts are not substitutes for character.
9. DO GOOD EVEN WHEN NOBODY IS WATCHING
Rahab did not know how her action would affect her future. She simply did what was right in the moment.
Keep doing good. God sees what people overlook. Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Your reward does not always come immediately.
