ADDRESS THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEMS
1. Deal with Generational Patterns Through Christ
Daniel 9:4–8 "O Lord... we have sinned…" Daniel was among the righteous people taken captive because of the sins of their fathers.
Daniel was a righteous man, yet he identified himself with the sins of his nation and ancestors. Rather than blaming previous generations, he confessed, "We have sinned."
2. Avoid dangerous environments
1 Corinthians 6:18 "Flee from sexual immorality."
The Bible teaches that believers face temptation from the world, the devil, and their own sinful desires.
3. Never Forget Your Covenant with God.
Judges 16:4–5 “Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. 5 And the lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, "Entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and every one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver."”
Delilah became the instrument through which Samson's enemies discovered the secret of his strength.
Do not allow physical attraction or emotions alone to determine life-changing decisions.
4. Test Every Teaching and Spiritual Influence
Deuteronomy 13:1–3 “ 1 "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 "and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods' -which you have not known-'and let us serve them,' 3 "you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
God warned Israel that even if a prophet performed signs, they must examine whether the message remained faithful to God.
In Acts 16:16–18, a girl possessed by a spirit of divination spoke factual words about Paul and his companions. “16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17 This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation." 18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour.”
Although what she said was true, Paul recognized that the source was not from God and commanded the spirit to leave her.
As believers, we should not accept every teaching, prophecy, or spiritual experience without testing it by the Word of God.
1 John 4:1 "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits whether they are of God."
