FINDING THE KEYS TO YOUR CLOSED DOORS
A key represents authority, access, and the right to enter where others cannot. The same principle applies in the Kingdom of God. There are physical doors and spiritual doors.
1. Discover the Key God Has Given You
Matthew 16:18–19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven..."
Jesus did not merely promise Peter blessings; He promised him keys.
Acts 2:38–41
When Peter preached, about three thousand people believed and were added to the church in one day. The key Jesus had entrusted to him unlocked the hearts of multitudes.
God gives different keys to different people.
The Apostle Paul exercised an authority that was unique to his calling.
1 Timothy 1:20 "of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme."
When you discover your God-given key, ministry becomes fruitful and effective.
2. Jesus Possesses the Highest Authority
Some keys belong exclusively to the Lord Jesus.
(a) The Keys of Death and Hades
Revelation 1:18 "...I have the keys of Death and of Hades."
(b) The Key to God's Eternal Plan
Revelation 5:3–5, 9 No one in heaven or on earth was worthy to open the scroll except Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. “4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals."”
Through His sacrifice on the cross, Jesus became worthy to open what no one else could open.
3. Sometimes God Opens the Door Himself
Revelation 3:8 "See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it."
Why did God open this door?
They had little strength.
They obeyed God's Word.
They remained faithful.
They did not deny Christ.
4. You Can Lose Your Key—or Someone Can Take It Away
Luke 11:52 "Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered."
Jesus rebuked the religious leaders because they neither entered God's truth themselves nor allowed others to enter.
False teaching can rob people of the keys God intends for them.
5. Your Heart Has a Door That Only You Can Open
Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock..."
This is perhaps the most important door of all.
Jesus knocks. He does not force His way in.
