CELEBRATE THE SUCCESS OF OTHERS
Main Texts: Luke 9:49–50; John 21:19–22
One of the greatest dangers in ministry is comparing ourselves with others. Instead of rejoicing when God blesses another church, ministry, or servant of God, some become jealous, competitive, or critical. This attitude divides the body of Christ and hinders the advancement of God's kingdom.
1. God's Kingdom Is Bigger Than Our Ministry
Luke 9:49–50
John said to Jesus, "We saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we stopped him because he does not follow with us."
The disciples believed they had exclusive rights to Jesus' ministry. They assumed that anyone outside their group should not minister in His name.
Jesus corrected them: "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side."
2. Avoid Comparing Your Assignment with Someone Else's
John 21:19–22 ““This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me." 20 Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" 21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what about this man?" 22 Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."””
After restoring Peter, Jesus revealed Peter's future and then commanded him, "Follow Me."
Instead of concentrating on his own calling, Peter looked at John and asked, "Lord, what about this man?"
3. Celebrate the Grace of God Upon Others
The Bible teaches that God's grace is distributed differently among His servants.
1 Cor 3:6 “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”
Instead of asking, "Why is God blessing them?"
Ask, "Lord, how can I faithfully fulfill my assignment?"
4. Competition Has No Place in God's Kingdom
The Kingdom advances through cooperation, not competition.
The devil delights when churches compete against one another instead of working together.
Each has a unique function designed by God.
5. Focus on Faithfulness Rather Than Popularity
God never called us to become famous. He called us to become faithful.
The greatest reward belongs to faithful servants, not necessarily the most visible ones.
6. Rejoice Whenever Christ Is Glorified
Whenever Christ is preached and lives are transformed: Luke 15:10 “"Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
If Christ is glorified, we all win. The Kingdom is one family serving one King.
