YOUR ROLE IN YOUR BREAKTHROUGH

(Speak to the mountain)

Text: Mark 11:12–14, 20–26

In Mark 11, Jesus gives us a powerful lesson through a fig tree. Jesus saw leaves from a distance. He came expecting fruit, but found none. He spoke to the tree: “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” The next morning, the disciples saw that the tree had withered from the roots.

You may not see the answer immediately, but God can begin dealing with the root before the evidence appears in your circumstances.

1. GOD EXPECTS FRUIT EVEN WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS NOT THE SEASON

“Seeing a fig tree in leaf from a distance...” — Mark 11:13

Jesus saw leaves and expected fruit. The tree looked productive from a distance, but when Jesus came closer, there was nothing.

God wants your life to produce something. Jesus said: “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit.” — John 15:8

Don't use your circumstances as an excuse for fruitlessness.

2. GOD DID NOT CREATE YOU TO BE USELESS

The fig tree had leaves, but no fruit. It had appearance without usefulness.

That should challenge every believer.

There is fruit He expects from your life.

The world may need what God has placed inside you.

Don't become a tree full of leaves but empty of fruit.

3. GOD MAY DEAL WITH THE ROOT BEFORE YOU SEE THE EVIDENCE

The disciples noticed the result the next morning: “They saw the fig tree withered from the roots.” — Mark 11:20

The first thing that happened was not visible. The root was affected first.

You are asking for financial breakthrough, but God is dealing with poor stewardship.

Don't become discouraged because you cannot yet see what God is doing.

4. HAVE FAITH IN GOD

When Peter was amazed by the withered tree, Jesus responded: “Have faith in God.” — Mark 11:22

Jesus did not say: “Have faith in the tree.” God can work beyond what your eyes can see. 2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

5. SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAINS

Jesus said: “Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be uprooted and cast into the sea’... it shall be done for him.” — Mark 11:23

Jesus did not say: “Spend all your time describing the mountain.”

Stop magnifying the problem and start magnifying God.

Your words should agree with your faith.

6. DON'T SPEAK WITHOUT BELIEVING

Jesus said: “And does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen...”

Faith is not merely speaking positive words. You cannot simply repeat words while your heart is full of unbelief.

Faith does not mean pretending problems do not exist. Faith means believing that the problem is not greater than God.

7. BELIEVE BEFORE YOU SEE

Jesus said: “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” — Mark 11:24

This is one of the great principles of faith. The natural order is: See → believe.

But the spiritual order is often: Believe → then see.

Your answer may begin in the invisible before it appears in the visible.

8. FORGIVENESS IS A GATEWAY TO YOUR ANSWERS

Jesus immediately connected faith and prayer with forgiveness.

“Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive them.” — Mark 11:25

Why would Jesus mention forgiveness in a teaching about prayer?

Because unforgiveness affects your relationship with God.

Don't allow someone else's offense to become a chain around your own spiritual life.

9. DON'T ALLOW UNFORGIVENESS TO BLOCK YOUR PRAYER LIFE

Jesus says: “If you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” — Mark 11:26

Forgiveness is not primarily about them. It is about freeing your heart before God.

10. YOU HAVE A ROLE IN ACTUALIZING YOUR ANSWERS

God is the source of the miracle, but your response matters.

Obey the instructions God gives you.

Become the person God can use to fulfill His purpose.

Your faith should not remain in your mouth; it must become visible in your actions.

THE ROOT DRIES UP BEFORE THE LEAVES WITHER

But you don't know what God is doing beneath the surface.
