According to Matthew 28:19,20 we are commanded to go and reach the unreached and make the disciples of Jesus. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
In our culture, last words of a dying person are taken very serious. Jesus is alive forever, but these were His last words to his disciples. These words need special attention. That is the reason why Bible scholars called them, THE GREAT COMMISSION. No Christian has an excuse for not fulfilling the Great Commission.
Unfortunately we preach much on it without implementing it. Remember we are not ASKED to go. We are COMMANDED to go. Nobody can fulfill it by preaching in the four walls of a church. The first step is to GO. That is – going outside our comfort zone. Jesus assured us of His presence if we obey His command by saying “I am with you always even unto the end of the world”. We have been seeking presence of God in church services and forgetting that we need to daily walk with God even in our homes. Once Moses said to God, If You do not assure me of Your presence, do not let me go. I wish we knew how dangerous it is to serve God without His presence. It is like travelling to other countries, without a passport and visa.
I just wanted to remind you that we have to make a decision to go and fulfill the commission. Nothing will happen if we are sitting doing nothing. After fasting and prayers we need to raise funds so we can go. If we manage to raise funds for funeral, why not for the kingdom of God.
Let me finish by saying this. We are not given Holy Spirit for celebration in our church services only. Holy Spirit is in us for EMPOWERING to be martyrs - Ready to die for Jesus. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
How far have you reached after you accepted Jesus? Do you really know your Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria and uttermost part of the earth? Use your finances wisely so that you are not ashamed in the Day of Judgment. If you can’t go in person, support those who go or pray strategically for those who go.
We don’t have excuse for this if we are really washed by the precious blood of Jesus.
But let me ask you a very important question: ARE YOU A CHURCH MEMBER OR A DISCIPLE OF JESUS? Remember we are not commanded to make church members but disciples.
God bless you and equip you for His mission work!
