People often ask themselves why the ungodly seem to be more successful than we are. Let us ask ourselves if we have considered the criteria for being blessed by our God. The meaning of being blessed is not to possess what we have but to enjoy the blessings we possess. That is why one of the curses mentioned in the Bible is not enjoying what you possess. Deuteronomy 28:30 “You shall take a wife and another man shall lie with her; you shall build a house but not live in it; you shall plant vineyards but not eat of its fruit.” You will not be prevented from building a house, but you will not benefit from it. When you have something but do not benefit from it, that is a curse.
Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord, it makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” God’s blessings are not mixed with sorrow. Success from the devil often comes with many conditions that can make a person unhappy, but people only see him as blessed on the outside.

Watu wana maswali mengi kwamba kwanini wasiomcha Mungu wanafanikiwa kuliko sisi. Tujiulize kama tumezingatia vigezo vya kubarikiwa na Mungu wetu. Kimsingi, maana ya kubarikiwa sio kumiliki pake yake bali kufurahia baraka unazozimiliki. Ndiyo maana moja ya laana zilizotajwa katika Biblia ni kutofurahia unachomiliki. Kum 28:30 “Utaposa mke na mume mwingine atalala naye; utajenga nyumba usiikae; utapanda mizabibu usitumie matunda yake.” Hutazuiwa kujenga nyumba lakini hutanufaika nayo. Unapokuwa na kitu lakini hunufaiki nacho, hiyo ni laana.
Mithali 10:22 “Baraka ya Bwana hutajirisha, Wala hachanganyi huzuni nayo.” Baraka za Mungu hazichanganywi na huzuni. Mafanikio kutoka kwa shetani yana masharti mengi yanayomfanya mtu asifurahie bali watu wamuone tu kwa nje kama aliyebarikiwa.
