Why Believers Get Stuck Financially
(faith does not replace wisdom)
Some sincere believers love God, pray faithfully, and attend church regularly, yet they struggle in life. Sometimes God indeed allows our faith to be tested, but at other times believers need renewed understanding, obedience, and wisdom.
1. Prioritizing a spiritual life while neglecting the mind (feel, think and decide)
Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God is.”
God created us with the ability to think, reason, plan, and make wise decisions.
A renewed mind is one of God's greatest instruments for progress.
2. Living on Earth as Though We Were Already in Heaven
Matthew 6:9,10 “9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Heaven is our eternal home, but God has placed us on earth with a mission.
Faithful stewardship of our earthly responsibilities is part of our worship.
3. Assuming Prayer Alone Is the Answer to Everything
James 2:17: "Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
Prayer is essential, but God often works through our obedience and action.
Prayer and action are partners, not competitors.
4. Failing to Recognize and Resist Spiritual Strongholds
2 Corinthians 10:4–5: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,"
Scripture teaches that believers face spiritual opposition.
Through Christ, believers are called to resist the devil, renew their minds with God's truth, and walk in obedience.
Victory comes through the power of Christ, not through fear of the enemy.
5. Not pleasing God in giving
2 Corinthians 9:7 "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."
Giving is more than an amount of money.
God is pleased with giving that flows from love and trust rather than from pressure or a desire to earn His favor.
6. Prioritizing Personal Interests Above God's Kingdom
Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness..."
God never intended us to place Him at the edge of our lives.
When our careers, possessions, comfort, or ambitions become more important than God's Kingdom, our priorities become disordered.
When God's priorities become our priorities, our lives gain eternal purpose.
