WHY DO PROBLEMS RETURN AFTER HEALING?
(Do not leave your life empty after deliverance)
Receiving a breakthrough is one thing; maintaining that breakthrough is another.
1. DELIVERANCE WITHOUT RECEIVING JESUS
Luke 11:24–26: Jesus taught that when an unclean spirit leaves a person, it may later return and find the house empty, swept, and put in order.
The danger is not simply that the spirit left.
The danger is that the empty place was not filled with Christ.
Deliverance should lead us into a deeper relationship with Jesus.
2. RETURNING TO SIN
John 5:14 Jesus told the man who had been healed: “See, you have been made well. Sin no more.”
Sometimes people experience God's intervention but later return to the very behavior they abandoned.
We cannot expect lasting transformation while deliberately returning to destructive patterns.
Ephesians 4:27 warns us: “Nor give place to the devil.”
3. ALLOWING DOUBT AND FEAR TO CONTROL YOU
2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Sometimes a person experiences healing but becomes afraid when old symptoms or circumstances appear again.
We must learn to respond with faith in God's Word rather than allowing fear to control our thoughts.
James 1:6–7 teaches us to ask in faith without doubting.
And 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
4. STOPPING THE PROCESS HALFWAY
Mark 8:22–26: Jesus prayed for a blind man, and the man's sight was restored in stages.
At first, he could see people, but they looked like trees walking. Jesus prayed again, and his sight became clear.
This reminds us that God's work in a person's life may sometimes involve a process. We should not become discouraged because we do not see everything immediately.
5. FAILING TO FOLLOW GODLY INSTRUCTIONS
2 Kings 5:13–14 Naaman was instructed to wash seven times in the Jordan.
His healing was connected with obedience to the instruction he received. Similarly, the lepers whom Jesus instructed to show themselves to the priests were cleansed as they went.
Prayer and obedience must work together.
6. SEEKING A MIRACLE THROUGH A WRONG SOURCE
Deuteronomy 13:1–4: Not every supernatural manifestation comes from God.
The Bible teaches us to examine the source and remain faithful to the Lord. We must therefore avoid being impressed merely because someone demonstrates supernatural knowledge or produces an apparent result.
We must examine the method, the message, and the character of the ministry.
Acts 16:16–19 gives an example of a person speaking something accurate while operating through a spirit of divination. The Apostle Paul rejected the source.
Therefore: Accuracy alone does not prove that a spiritual source is from God.
HOW DO WE MAINTAIN OUR BREAKTHROUGH?
After God gives us freedom, we must:
Receive Jesus and remain in Him.
Turn away from sin.
Guard our minds against fear and doubt.
Continue the process of spiritual growth.
Obey God's Word and appropriate godly instructions.
Exercise spiritual discernment.
Remain committed to prayer and the Word.
Build a lifestyle that supports the freedom we have received.
