Give children freedom of choice (Wape watoto uhuru wa kuchagua)
Let's give children as much freedom of choice as possible. Often, parents tend to make decisions for their children. A certain lady thought she knew her children's needs very well. So she cooked expensive meals for them without asking them. One day, while she was on a trip, she decided to leave money for her children and instruct them to buy the same expensive food. She was surprised when she returned to find that the children had cooked the cheap food they liked and kept the money. Then they said to her, 'Mom, you don't like to ask us what we want!'

Tuwape watoto uhuru wa kuchagua kwa vile vinavyowezekana. Mara nyingi wazazi tuna tabia ya kuwaamulia watoto kila kitu. Mama mmoja alikuwa anadhani anajua sana mahitaji ya watoto waje. Hivyo alikuwa anawapikia vyakula vya gharama bila kuwauliza. Siku moja alipokuwa na safari akaamua awaachie watoto pesa na kuwaelekeza wakanunue mahitaji ya chakula kilekile cha gharama. Alishangaa aliporudi kukuta watoto wamepika chakula cha gharama ndogo wanachokipenda na kubakiza pesa. Kisha wakamuambia, ‘Mama hupendi kutuuliza kwamba tunataka nini!’
