HOW SEXUAL BRIBERY DESTROYS LIVES
(Our dignity is not for sale)
Main Scripture: Nehemiah 4:14
1. WE MUST FIGHT FOR OUR BRETHREN
Nehemiah 4:14 says: “Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren…”
Nehemiah was calling God's people to defend their families and communities.
Today, we must also recognize that there are people around us who are silently suffering.
2. SEXUAL BRIBERY THRIVES WHERE POWER IS ABUSED
Sexual bribery requires an imbalance of power. God never designed human beings to become commodities. Our bodies are not currency. Our dignity is not for sale.
1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us: “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.”
Therefore, we must refuse every system that treats human beings as objects to be used for personal gratification.
3. SEXUAL BRIBERY CAN DESTROY DIGNITY
One of the greatest weapons of this evil is shame.
External success cannot compensate for internal brokenness.
Psalm 34:18 says: “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart.”
4. WE MUST NOT BLAME THE VICTIM
If someone in authority says: “Sleep with me and I will give you the job,”
and the vulnerable person is pressured into it, the abuse of power belongs to the person who made the demand.
Where wrongdoing has occurred, we should pursue appropriate accountability and justice.
Romans 12:21 says: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
5. SEXUAL BRIBERY CAN DESTROY FAMILIES
The consequences do not stop with the individual.
It can affect marriages, children, and entire communities.
Someone may enter an illicit relationship because they were pressured to secure an opportunity. Later, the secret creates guilt and destroys trust in the marriage.
Others may become bitter because they rejected sexual demands and consequently lost opportunities.
The enemy wants to create pain on every side. But Jesus came to restore what has been broken.
6. REFUSING SEXUAL BRIBERY MAY COST US SOMETHING—BUT GOD REMAINS OUR SOURCE
Some people have suffered because they refused to compromise. They lost promotions. They were transferred. They were denied opportunities.
But we must remember: A closed door does not mean God has abandoned us.
Psalm 37:5 says: “Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.”
Our opportunities do not ultimately come from corrupt people. Our source is God.
7. WE MUST NOT COMPROMISE OUR FAITH FOR TEMPORARY BENEFITS
Jesus asked in Mark 8:36: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
What good is a promotion if we lose our peace?
We must never exchange eternal values for temporary benefits.
There are opportunities we should refuse.
Our destiny is too valuable to finance with compromise.
8. SEXUAL BRIBERY CAN ALSO ENTER RELIGIOUS SETTINGS
Spiritual authority must never be used for sexual exploitation. A pastor, bishop, prophet, ministry leader, counselor, teacher, or any other spiritual leader has no God-given authority to demand sexual favors.
The Bible condemns sexual immorality and the abuse of God's people.
Jesus warned leaders about harming vulnerable people.
Therefore, when sexual exploitation occurs in the church, it should not be hidden simply to protect the reputation of a ministry.
People matter more than reputation.
9. WE MUST EXPOSE DARKNESS
Ephesians 5:11 says: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”
Exposure should not mean gossip, revenge, public humiliation, or spreading unverified accusations.
It means bringing wrongdoing into appropriate light through truthful reporting, proper safeguarding procedures, responsible leadership, and lawful accountability.
Where appropriate, reports can be made through workplace procedures, safeguarding structures, professional regulators, law enforcement, or other relevant authorities.
Silence protects perpetrators; wise action protects people.
10. GOD IS OUR REDEEMER
Job 19:25 says: “For I know that my Redeemer lives.” This is our hope.
We may have experienced things we never expected. But our Redeemer lives!
God can restore our dignity.
The actions of another person do not have the authority to determine our final destiny.
11. WE MUST STAND FIRM
James 4:7 says: “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
Our resistance must involve more than words.
We must say:
“Our bodies are not for sale.” “Our dignity is not negotiable.”
“Our destiny will not be purchased through sexual compromise.”
12. GOD WILL VINDICATE HIS PEOPLE
To everyone who has been pressured, threatened, exploited, or punished because they refused sexual compromise:
Do not lose hope. Job 19:25 says: “I know that my Redeemer lives.”
We may not know when or how God will intervene, but we know who our Redeemer is.
Our future will not be destroyed because we refused to compromise.
